I'm on the search for an internship for the summer! I want to get one either with a fashion magazine, or with a designer. My dream magazine to work for is Bazaar, but I'm also in love with Vogue, Elle, and Lucky. I'm basically looking for anyone who has a fashion department! Since I'm in school for fashion design, it would be amazing to work with a designer and get some "real world" experience. I would move anywhere! So, I'm not sure in which direction I'll go, but if anyone knows of any possibilities, I would LOVE to hear from you!
OMG, I am SO in LOVE with Christian Lacroix! His collection is like Couture CANDY! I am a HUGE fan of mixed prints, textures, and colours. I'm really hoping that someone with lots of money has these for bridesmaids dresses! Now, excuse me so I can go sell my soul...
I wore my awesome sneaker boots to school yesterday. They make me feel like I'm from the future. Haha...yeah, I'm weird.
My next mission, which I've been working on for sometime now, is to find the perfect sneaker HEELS! I found some amazing ones last year that were PERfect, but, go figure-they didn't make them in my size! Seriously, having size 11 feet is the WORST! If I can ever find a shoe in my size, I almost dread it because it comes from the back looking like a monster. And it's so bad that I've even had the salesperson comment about how "different" the shoe looks in such a massive size! Ahhh...but, I suppose there are much worse things to worry about... like my fat thighs, flat chest, crappy thin hair....Okay, totally kidding. I'm working on being less critical of myself and more thankful for everything (and everyone!) that I have in my life! Love you guys!
Galliano definitely didn't disappoint with the Dior Haute Couture show. The fabrics and colors are breathtaking. When asked about the recession, Galliano said, "There's a credit crunch, not a creative crunch."
Good call John. It's in times like these when people really need something uplifting anyway, and although I could never afford anything from the collection, it totally made my day! I'm so in love with the makeup too- check out the close ups of the models faces! xox
Paris Haute Couture Week starts today and I'm very excited to see the outcome, especially during this time when many designers are opting out of Fashion Week entirely. A lot of editors and retailers aren't even attending. So, it will be very interesting to see what comes out of Paris this week. Personally. I'm hoping to see a lot of optimism in the collections, as Couture will always be an art form and we will eventually move past these economic troubles- I hope! Anyway, I'm very excited and I'll definitely be posting some of my faves so stay tuned! Happy Monday everyone!
Last night I finally got to try out my awesome Christmas present from my BF! It's a giant CUPCAKE! It turned out perfectly- and was extremely delicious too! I used Funfetti cake for the top (which I spiced up with some pink food colouring) and Devil's Food for the bottom. I made the icing a cornflower blue to create a nice colour combo! I have a feeling we'll be eating lots of giant cupcakes in the next few months...YUM!
The Spring '09 Pringle of Scotland didn't get great reviews on style.com, but I love the colour palette and the easy (but never boring!), very 'spring' pieces. I also looove the heels, especially the bandage-y looking ankle wrap ones! All the separates are so interesting and full of texture but still super light. Maybe it's because of my obsession with water, and this collection made me think of the oceanside, but I just think the pieces deserve more credit than they got and I'm in love!
Since it was Jason Wu who won the honour of dressing new first lady, Michelle Obama for the big ball, I thought I'd post a few pieces from his Spring '09 collection! My favourites were the cleverly constructed coats and jackets and the flowing, bright coloured long dresses. If I could, I'd go buy the purple one this second!
The BF and I were at the mall yesterday and we stopped into a bookstore that's closing. I pretty much never pay full price for books (and, well, everything else for that matter!) so when I saw these 2 books for 75% off, I couldn't refuse! I'm excited to read them and they'll be a fun addition to my collection! I'll let you know what I think as soon as I finish!
